Off the Grid
After 37 years of work, Garry has retired to pursue his dream.
He has bought wilderness land in Northern Ontario near the Minnesota border and has
built an energy efficient house, off the grid.

This web site will describe some of his adventures. So far, there are
only a few photographs. Feel free to join in and share your experiences or hopes
about going back to the land as uncertain economic times are upon us. Send in some
pictures, as well. We'll post 'em to this web site.

This first photograph is the new house, built in the summer of 2008. View of the house from the south-west Below is the view to the south-west from the front deck of the house. This photo shows Garry sitting on his custom-made chair and coffee table, at the back of the land, fifty-two acres from the road. Custom-made chair, October 2008 The new place is "off the grid" and relies on a wood-burning stove for heat. It generates electric power by using solar panels and a windmill. Moose, deer and bears regularly drop in for a visit. Take care not to step on the alligator near the front door. Garry on his Tractor, October 2008
